My name is Alicja Nowicka, and I am very excited to share with you my work during my third year as BA (Hons) Modelmaking student at Arts University Bournemouth.
On this blog you will begin to see me post regarding two projects which I will be completing at the same time – Making an Argument and External Brief. The former is my dissertation, and the latter is a live model brief I will be completing for a client.
I have been looking forward to this year for a long time and I am very excited to explore what I am passionate about in more depth. I also really enjoy working with people, which means I was very thrilled to be working for a client. One of the reasons I love modelmaking is due to the opportunities to create meaningful models that can be of value to others – I could not be happier I can explore this further for my client in my External Brief.
When it comes to making – sculpting, and moulding and casting are some of the main processes I enjoy working with. However, I also find more hard-edge processes and materials such as wood, quite rewarding. Above all, I am passionate about working towards a good quality of finish in all my models.
I am looking forward to documenting my final year of University. I predict a lot of good things – and a lot of mistakes also! I cannot wait to see what problem-solving I can get involved in, and what I will learn along the way.
